S. Clay Wilson's Long Road Ahead
As you probably already know, underground cartoonist S. Clay Wilson was recently hospitalized and is still recovering from head injuries he incurred over a month ago. Steve Duin has reported his progress regularly on The Oregonian's website.
Donations are welcome: like many cartoonists, S. Clay doesn’t have any kind of health care insurance. His partner Lorraine Chamberlain has set up a PO Box for anyone who'd like to send a note of encouragement or some money to help pay the rent and the long-term therapy he’ll need:

The Universal Translator
I used to visit a lot of the same websites on a regular basis. Usually I was checking to see if they'd been updated. I ended up with a lot of bookmarks and a lot of wasted clicks. Then I started using the Google Reader. There are many different Feed Readers to choose from, but I already had set up a custom Google homepage, so I simple added their Reader to it.
Feed Readers enable you to go to one place—your reader—to get all the updates from your favorite websites. You simply subscribe to the site's RSS feed. This way instead of you going to the site, the site's content comes to you.
I've mentioned the Google Reader before. I've been using it for about a year now and it's been a great tool. The reason I'm bringing it up again, is that they've just added an amazing new feature: translation.
So now you can subscribe to an RSS feed with content in another language and Google's computing power will automatically translate the text into your preferred language! I've tried it out and the results are pretty amazing.
Machine translation still isn't perfect, but it's come a long way.
