Backstory
The Bar Facts strip was based on a real-life conversation between two women that I overheard one day. It's pretty much verbatim.
During my early years of cartooning I was a smoker. One of the tactics used to give these things up is of course, to switch to a low tar brand. But it's all sort of a moot point if you're still smoking. This strip was a tribute to the ingenuity of the American marketing machine to capitalize anew on this deadly, addictive habit.
